January 2017 Edition.

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

January 2017 edition

The recent collapse of the Northern Ireland power-sharing executive at Stormont had an air of total inevitability about it. Any electoral system which entails the compulsory inclusion of the most diametrically opposed party to the most popular party in government is clearly illogical, and when that oppositional party does not even pledge loyalty to the country in which they live it is downright lunacy.

The ridiculous electoral system for the Stormont Assembly was of course imposed upon the people of Northern Ireland by the government of the fenian-sympathiser Tony Blair. Although the leadership of the DUP have often been criticized for agreeing to this undemocratic form of administration, the reality of the situation is that if they didn’t agree to it then the only alternative would have been a total sellout by the New Labour government to the alien Republic of Ireland. It was however simply a matter of time before the SF/IRA faction would walkout and thus easily cause the whole nonsensical system to collapse. The decision by Arlene Foster’s administration to introduce a Renewable Heating Initiative was therefore just an excuse by the dying Martin McGuinness’s erstwhile terrorists to cause renewed chaos in Ulster.

From the foundation of the Northern Ireland state in 1922 until it was illegally prorogued by the traitor Edward Heath in 1972 the Stormont Parliament functioned extremely efficiently and well. To be sure it did not meet with the approval of the nationalist community, but in this regard it should always be remembered that not all Roman Catholics in Ireland are nationalists, and furthermore partition was in any case a compromise which was to the detriment of the Unionist population throughout the island of Ireland. Ideally the “first past the post” system, which was the electoral system which operated throughout the existence of the original Stormont Parliament, should now be re-adopted, but alas this is highly unlikely to come about under the present dispensation.

It is also of course extremely illogical that the other devolved administrations throughout the UK introduced by Blair’s New Labour government should have a different structure to that which operates for the Northern Ireland Assembly, entailing as they do a “list” system of proportional representation. The introduction of the Scottish and Welsh quangos – particularly the Scottish Parliament – has only resulted in severe problems for the UK as a whole of course, but given the fact that their abolition is highly unlikely to occur in the near future it is therefore perfectly logical that following the collapse of the Stormont power-sharing executive a completely new system similar to those operating at Holyrood and Cardiff Bay should be adopted. As Theresa May’s government has only recently been installed in power at Westminster it is therefore very improbable that she will currently possess enough strength to take such a radical step, but if the new SF/IRA leader proves as intransigent as the wretched McGuinness then perhaps such an act of daring will eventually come about.

In the meantime it is surely essential for all loyal citizens in Northern Ireland to coalesce around the DUP and to give them strong and united support. SF/IRA will undoubtedly complain and obstruct no matter what the short-term and long-term outcomes might be, but if they resume their tactics of violence then – given the completely different zeitgeist which now exists throughout the West compared to that which prevailed during the liberal latter half of the twentieth century – the British Government must surely ensure that they are crushed. Ruthlessly.

SPRINGBOK CLUB NEWS

As mentioned in last month’s SCN, the unfortunate withdrawal of the planned guest speaker for the Springbok Club’s proposed Day of the Vow gathering in December (which was intended to entail a special tribute to the memory of Clive Derby-Lewis) meant that this large-scale event had to be cancelled. Instead the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club held a small and informal get-together in December, which ensured that the anniversary of the Day of the Vow was still remembered.

----------------------------

The Springbok Club’s planned staging of a historical “Ghost Walk” of central London has now been put forward to Saturday 28th January. Provisional plans are to assemble near St.Paul’s Underground Station at approximately 15.00 hrs. For more precise information either e-mail springbk@netcomuk.co.uk or ‘phone: 07711188430.

----------------------------

The Springbok Club’s 2017 AGM will now take place during the afternoon of Saturday 18th February, and full details will be sent to all current members of the organization in due course. All fully paid-up members of the Springbok Club will be entitled to participate in this meeting, though only Honorary, Life and Full members will be allowed to vote or to stand for office. Associate members will however be allowed to attend, and to participate in discussions. If you are interested in standing for office, or wish to propose any motion for debate, then please either e-mail springbk@netcomuk.co.uk or ‘phone: 07711188430 on later than Saturday 4th February. Following the completion of the business side of this meeting the special tribute to the memory of Clive Derby-Lewis, which was originally to be held in December, will take place. This will involve a talk about Clive’s life and career by somebody who knew him well, and the reading of a translation of the funeral oration given in honour of Clive by Attorney Paul Kruger.

----------------------------

During the following few months several exciting events are being planned by the Springbok Club, including a meeting to be addressed by a prominent wildlife conservationist and another featuring a prominent personality from Rhodesia’s UDI years. Two more long-term events for 2017 have also already been arranged, firstly a trip to the WWII battlefield at Arnhem in the Netherlands during mid-August, and secondly the organisation’s participation in the annual “Raising of the Flag” ceremony in Norfolk on Sunday 10th September. We ask all supporters therefore to try to diarise both of these dates, and to let us know if they are keen to attend by either e-mailing springbk@netcomuk.co.uk or by ‘phoning: 07711188430.

SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS

The Swinton Circle will be celebrating Burns Night on the evening of Wednesday 25th January at a venue in the City of London. The traditional Burns Night meal (which will include a drink - either alcoholic or non-alcoholic) will cost £9.09 per head, although there will be alternative meals available, including a Highland Burger price £9.49 (including a drink). The Swinton Circle has booked a table at the venue for 19.00 hrs, but we ask all those attending to assemble by about 18.30 hrs. Places for this meal are limited, so all those who would like to attend should contact swinton@netcomuk.co.uk as soon as possible. After the meal the latest developments in the planned merger between the Swinton Circle and New Britain will be announced.

----------------------------

It is hoped that the merger between the Swinton Circle and New Britain will be finalised by March, when the new organization will be formally launched with a special buffet meeting in central London to be addressed by a leading MEP who was closely involved in the “Vote Leave” campaign. Further details will of course be given in future editions of the SCN.

----------------------------

Following the chaotic disputed election outcome in Gambia the Swinton Circle issued the following statement :-

“The Swinton Circle calls for British military intervention in Gambia in order to restore order to that beleaguered land, and not to leave the task to the forces of other equally despotic nations from West Africa. Once order has been restored then we advocate that the Gambian people should be offered British Protectorate status.”

REPORTS FROM THE ZIMBABWE CONSERVATION TASK FORCE

We have recently received the following ongoing reports from the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force :-

“The 8 hyenas that were captured on Hwange as per our last report were transported to Harare by 3 Chinese men and were trying to export them out of the country by having them loaded on an aeroplane at Harare International Airport on Thursday 3rd November 2016. The Chinese men were stopped by the Customs and Excise for trying to export the hyenas with fraudulent paperwork. The animals were in a poor state of health with cuts and grazes on their bodies from being transported in unsatisfactory cages. The hyenas have been impounded and were released at a sanctuary close to the airport. One of the hyenas has managed to escape which will cause a huge problem to the residents in that area. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Zimbabwean Customs and Excise for carrying out their duties and preventing these animals from being loaded.

“About 2 weeks ago in Hwange, two of the captured baby elephants have died from starvation and thirst due to neglect. We are expecting these animals to be sent to their destination in the next week. We have had confirmation that the captured elephants are destined for Shanghai Wild Animal Park and they have submitted a permit for 17 elephants and the balance is to go to Yunnan Wildlife Park in China. We believe that there is a delegation from the Zimbabwe National Parks and the ZNSPCA who will be travelling to China to inspect the holding pens for the captured animals.

“We found that after investigations have been carried out, the poachers that are arrested or shot in the Zambezi area, the weapons are confiscated and handed over to the police. Mysteriously, these very same weapons are ending up back in the hands of the poachers once released.

“We sadly have to report that Katanga the baby elephant from Imire Safari Park has recently died…our sincerest condolences to John and Judy Travers who lovingly cared and looked after him.

“Further to our report of the 5th November 2016 we have been told that the male lion that was captured in the second week of September was also with the hyena consignment that was impounded in Harare at the Harare International Airport on the 3rd November 2016. For now, he is in a safe sanctuary near the airport.

“It is with regret that we found out recently that Jericho, Cecil’s brother was found dead and the autopsy is being carried out.

“It has been reported to us that the hyenas that were impounded and kept at a sanctuary near the airport have now been returned to the capture boma in Hwange, we assume to be re-exported to China. One of the hyenas has an injured leg and is limping whilst 3 others have also been reported to have injuries due to the transportation to Harare and back again. Four Chinese men have been seen rebuilding relocation cages in Hwange. The security in the area is very high at the moment around the capture unit. The animals should be leaving the country any day now. On a happier note, In Zimbabwe at the moment we have been blessed with much needed rainfall

GRAEME POLLOCK – THE GREATEST

It was most pleasing to note that Sky Sports TV had added a programme in honour of Graeme Pollock to their enthralling “Sporting Greats” series. Graeme Pollock was undoubtedly one of the greatest batsmen in the world – if not the greatest – during the latter half of the twentieth century, but alas his cricketing brilliance seems to be largely overlooked today, probably because his heyday was during the days of civilized rule in South Africa. As well as reminding all those who remember him, and informing all those of a more recent generation about his batting magnificence, this programme, by showing much news footage from the era, demonstrated just what a well-ordered, civilized and idyllic country South Africa was at the time – the complete antithesis of today’s “new” South African chaos and crime-ridden anarchy. Let’s hope therefore that Sky Sports TV produces further programmes about South African sporting heroes from this era.

KING LEOPOLD MUST STAY!

Following the detestable – though happily mainly unsuccessful – “Rhodes must fall” campaign of last year (whereby unspeakable student malcontents tried to have statues and memorials to the great British Imperial patriot Cecil John Rhodes removed), it was probably inevitable that similar sickening campaigns would be staged in an attempt to have memorials commemorating other great European Imperial patriots removed. One such attempt happened recently at Queen Mary University in the east end of London, where the target was a foundation stone laid by the great King Leopold II of Belgium. Although the authorities at this lowly University removed an accompanying plaque commemorating the laying of the foundation stone, they stated that it had only been removed temporarily for refurbishment. We certainly trust that this is the case. King Leopold II was not only a great Belgian, he was also a great friend of Britain (he had a copy of The Times specially dispatched every day to his Royal Palace in Brussels!). It was King Leopold II, of course, who when his Belgian Government were reluctant to show vision and daring by establishing a Belgian colony, took it upon himself to claim and seize a vast unclaimed expanse of central Africa which became first the Congo Free State and latterly the Belgian Congo. He was a truly great man indeed, and we trust that not only will the plaque in his honour be restored at Queen Mary University as quickly as possible, but also that other statues and memorials to him will be erected around the West to remind everyone of his vision and determination.

REMEMBERING WPC YVONNE FLETCHER

We have recently received the following message reminding everyone about the fate of WPC Yvonne Fletcher when she was gunned down by Libyan terrorists in St.James’s Square London, and requesting the signing of a petition demanding compensation for all the victims of Libyan terrorism from out of Libyan Government funds frozen in Britain. It reads as follows :-

“On 17th April 1984 I was with my friend and colleague PC Yvonne Fletcher when she was shot and killed outside the Libyan Embassy by terrorists. In the ambulance on the way to the hospital I promised Yvonne I would get her justice, those were the last words she heard before dying.

“I’ve spent 32 years fighting for Yvonne and the other British victims of Libyan terrorism. Right now there is money from Libya that has been frozen for some time in the UK, and politicians believe it could be used to compensate the victims.

“That’s why I’m calling for the UK Government to pass a bill that will make this money available to victims of Libyan terrorism and their families. US, Germany and others have secured compensation from the Libyan Government to assist their nationals. They compensated the families who lost loved ones as well as those who had life changing injuries. To date the UK Government has not pursued any compensation on behalf of British victims.

“This issue is being debated now in Parliament. There is a proposed ‘Asset Freezing (Compensation) Bill’ that would allow the Government to compensate victims. The bill has had it’s second reading so now is the time to show public support- if we don’t, they may block it.

“Signing this petition can help people whose lives were destroyed by terrorism get the justice they deserve. All the UK victims want is to be treated with the same care as other victims around the world.

“So, please join me in calling on the UK Government to pass the ‘Asset Freezing Bill’ and compensate victims of Libyan terrorism.

“From: John Murray”

[Sick and unbelievable though it might seem, we heard some while ago that the murderers of WPC Yvonne Fletcher were once “praised” by an Islamo-fascist associate of the late and unlamented Ian “Anderscum” Anderson from one of his public platforms. Although Anderscum evidently disassociated himself and his organization from this evil utterance very quickly, and although for all his other faults (he was a smear-monger par excellence and our movement suffered significantly from his hate-campaign) he clearly wasn’t an Islamo-fascist himself, the fact that he was initially associated with such an evil piece of filth says a lot about the true nature of the man. The threat posed by the Islamo-fascists (neo-fascists who are so anti-Semitic and hate their own country so much that they support Islamic terrorists, and in some cases even convert to Mohammedanism) was detailed in the December 2015 Edition of the SCN. These Islamo-fascists are vermin. They should be eradicated from the face of the world!]

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?

No.218 – Mr. TONY SMITH of Tottenham Hotspurs and Durban United

Anthony “Tony” Smith was on the books of Tottenham Hotspurs F.C. during the late 1950s and early 60s. A mid-field player, he alas only played in one first team match for Spurs, so therefore decided to move on, eventually emigrating to South Africa where he became a star player for Durban United (he even had his own tactical column in one of the Durban daily newspapers!). After his playing days were over he took up coaching, and was particularly associated with the Soccer Section of Durban Collegians – and thereby came in close contact with “The Roper Set” (see August 2016 SCN). A very friendly, helpful and unassuming man, it would be very interesting to learn what happened to him.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

TRUE BRITS

Sir,

I was just thinking that the voice of the British people (as we know) was suppressed for so long. We all know that every time Ian Smith arrived at Heathrow he was cheered to the rafters by the airport workers. On HMS Tiger he was given the Captain's cabin which annoyed Wilson. It goes to show the metropolitan elite which governed us for so long was totally out of touch with those whom they were governing.

It took a maverick, one Nigel Farage, to stick it to them in a long campaign, who shook the establishment, Labour, Tory and the unmentionable Liberals, to their core. History will place him in the pantheon of British heroes, not in his or maybe our lifetime but certainly in the annals of history.

Yours etc.,

“Loyalist”, Glasgow, U.K.

AIDA PARKER IN RETROSPECT

A couple of supporters have recently reminded us about the excellent journalistic work carried out by Aida Parker in South Africa during the 1970s and 1980s. One of these supporters, now based in Australia, wrote as follows :-

“I knew Aida and I kept a library of her works. She was the most perspicacious of writers I have known. Her house was a memorial to common sense. So important were her works that my family and I were influenced to the point of departure from South Africa. But it was her understanding of structures and functions of global networks that set her apart.”

In answer the other supporter who is still living in South Africa and who asked if we could give him more info’ about Aida Parker, this present writer replied as follows :-

“Aida Parker was evidently a prominent journalist in the mainstream South African media before I emigrated to the country in 1976. She first came to my attention, however, when a series of articles written by her entitled Secret US War against South Africa appeared in The Citizen during the late 1970s (this was before the ‘Info Scandal’ was exposed, so The Citizen was then still controlled by the Dept. of Information). These articles were explosive, and detailed the machinations of the then Carter Administration in the US to destabilise South African society, the details undoubtedly having been ‘fed’ to Aida Parker by Dept. of Information officials. We launched S.A.Patriot in 1980 of course, and one of the first things which we did was to purchase a bulk-quantity of the booklets based on this series which had been published by The Citizen to retail. They proved very popular, and we sold out within a very short period of time, but when we tried to re-order a further batch from The Citizen we were told - ominously - that they had no further supplies and no intention to re-print (this of course was after the ‘Info. Scandal’ had been exposed, and The Citizen had been sold by the government!). Somehow we then discovered that a conservative organisation in the US had been so
impressed with Aida Parker's articles that they too had re-printed them in booklet form, and kindly let us have quite a massive stock for retailing. The fact that this American conservative organisation had gone to the trouble of re-printing this booklet themselves simply confirms how dramatic Aida Parker's revelations were, and what high regard she was held in within conservative circles overseas! Although I never met Aida Parker personally, one of our keenest subscribers from the US, Gerard de Wolf, was a personal friend of hers and actually took out a subscription to S.A.Patriot on her behalf.

“Following the sale of The Citizen in the wake of the ‘Info. Scandal’ Aida Parker evidently lost her employment with the newspaper, so instead launched her own very expensively-priced in-depth periodical, The Aida Parker Newsletter. This publication contained a sequence of most revealing accounts of not only overseas attempts to destabilise South Africa, but also about the sellout plans and plots within the NP South African government - information no doubt supplied to Aida by the same government and ex-government sources who had fed her with material for her original epoch-marking Secret US War against South Africa series. In spite of its high price The Aida Parker Newsletter obtained a very high circulation (even my boss at the time, a French-Mauritian accountant named Phillipe D'Abbardie - not a particularly political man - was a subscriber), and its overseas circulation figures were also surprisingly high. Aida Parker sadly died in 2002, but I believe that she was still publishing The Aida Parker Newsletter to the end. Most surprisingly however, and perhaps sinisterly, I could find very little reference to Aida Parker on the Internet - there doesn't even seem to be a reference to her on Wikipedia.

“There is however one further more personal and very disturbing factor concerning Aida Parker which I must report. Shortly after we established the Springbok Club's presence on the Internet in the late 1990s we were contacted by a woman who called herself Jenni Logan and who claimed to be running the web-site for The Aida Parker Newsletter, and who asked us to include a ‘link’ to this web-site from our own Links Page. This of course we gladly agreed to do - and went on to promise to make it our ‘Recommended Web-Site of the Month’ in a future edition of our then newly-established SCN. The reaction of this Jenni Logan character proved most disturbing and dumbfounding however, for she objected fiercely to the fact that we were only going to make her site our ‘Recommended Web-Site of the Month’ for one month, saying that it should be our ‘Recommended Web-Site of the Month’ every month! (What on earth is the point of having a recommended site of the month if the same site is recommended each month!). Even worse was to follow however, for she then placed a most offensive and indeed libelous page on her web-site smearing me in the most terrible terms. I of course objected to her ISP regarding this smear, and as a result the hurtful page was taken down. This was the last which I ever heard from or about this Jenni Logan character, so I don't know therefore whether this was her (or his!) real name, or whether this whole set-up was the work of an agent provocateur. Perhaps even more suspiciously I checked for the web-site of The Aida Parker Newsletter a couple of times after this worrying incident, but couldn't find any reference to it - and as I've intimated above I can find absolutely no reference to it on the Web today. (Incidentally, you can read more about our unfortunate experiences and opinions regarding this antagonism from the Jenni Logan character in the January 1999, April 1999 and March 2001 Editions of our SCN).

”As you know, I'm not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but the facts which Aida Parker revealed both in her original series of articles in The Citizen and subsequently in her own Newsletter certainly convinces me that there was more going on in and concerning South Africa during the 1970s and 1980s than perhaps we realise - and our own distressing experiences from the Jenni Logan character, whose only intention could surely have been to drive a wedge between the Springbok Club and Aida Parker, only makes the situation even more sinister. There was also of course the sickening assassination of Dr.Verwoerd to bear in mind here, the subsequent regular visits of a cabinet minister to see Tsafendis in jail, the assassination of Robert Smit and the "suicide" of John Wiley to bear in mind. Yes, the comments of your contact from the South American embassy could well confirm evidence of really sinister goings-on in South Africa during the final decades of the 20th century!”

If anyone could share any further information about the excellent work of Aida Parker – or about the mysterious Jenni Logan trouble-maker – then we would be most interested to receive it.
