September 2002 Edition.

September 2002 edition

The choice of Johannesburg as the venue for the United Nation's "Earth Summit on Sustainable Development" was bizarre to say the least. Johannesburg, after all, is now universally accepted as the crime capital of the world.

After earlier such conferences were staged at Rio and Kyoto, certain UN officials evidently expressed a desire to hold this subsequent summit in a third-world country. This of course merely goes to prove - if any further proof is needed - how in the decade since the National Party surrendered power South Africa has descended from first-world civilisation to third-world squalor.

As things turned out, however, the summit was not so much concerned with saving the planet from environmental disaster, but rather with providing a platform for the basket-case nations of the world to attack the West in general, and the United States in particular. President George W. Bush was well advised to avoid this circus of envy and vindictiveness. Here at last the United States and the West has a true leader with the courage to stand up to those who wish to destroy us.

This does not mean to say that we are not concerned about the ecological dangers facing the world - quite the reverse in fact. In a speech made at Torquay in June 1992 this present writer emphasised how in order to save the planet from environmental collapse it was vitally important for the great European empires to be re-established throughout the third-world. If this was true in 1992 then it is even more true in 2002, now that South Africa has also fallen into the third-world morass.

In a recent most interesting statement Dr. Pieter Mulder, leader of the Freedom Front, acknowledged the existence of a growing Afrikaner "diaspora" around the world, and pointed out the positive aspects of this. We would certainly see this Afrikaner (though we would prefer to use the term "White South African") "diaspora" playing an important component role in the European re-colonisation of the African continent, which in the long-term is the only way that the planet can be saved from ecological disaster.

The London Branch of the Springbok Club was officially established at a meeting held in central London on 27 August, which was expertly organised by Paul Robinson.

The function room where the gathering was held was practically packed, and after a brief talk on the history, aims and objectives of the Springbok Club, followed by a lively and fruitful question-and-answer session, a committee for the London Branch was successfully nominated, which consists of the following people:-

Paul Robinson (Chairman)
Ryan Kriste (Secretary)
Chris Pead (Treasurer)
John Golden
Bill Binding
Roger Jenkins

The London Branch plans to hold regular monthly meetings and social get-togethers from now onwards, the full details of which will appear in future editions of the SCN.

Details of the next central Springbok Club meeting are as follows:-

Guest Speaker : Mr. PETER WARD

Date : Wednesday 11th September 2002

Time : 19.15 hrs for 19.45 hrs.

Venue : The MORPETH ARMS (the upstairs Function Room), 58 Millbank, Westminster, London SW1 (close to the Tate Gallery and Vauxhall Bridge - nearest tube station: Pimlico).

Originally from London, Peter Ward now resides in the New York City area, and is the editor of the anthology of African stories, "Africa Par Adventure" (which many Springbok Club supporters have contributed to). Peter has wheeled and dealed himself around the world, always armed with the ability to get himself into the most compromising situations imaginable. Bitten by the travel bug in 1992, Peter's itchiness has caused him to break out of his routine again and again. In the past decade he's had a rash of unusual incidents. Fortunately, he's returned each time without a scratch, and with a collection of stories that'll leave the listener in stitches - burning to know more. Peter has travelled to many a far-out place, each with its own extraordinary story. He's shaken hands with an African Dictator, pounded the streets of futuristic Japanese cities and roamed amidst Mayan ruins. With a passion for wanderlust, he's downsized on work and upsized on life. But when it comes to transit, he prefers backpacker class, where the culture is richest. A product of the eighties who came of age in the nineties, he's still trying to make sense of the new millennium. For further info visit his web-site at:

Press Release of the book:

Africa Par Adventure is a collection of over 100 tales, insights and observations of the inconceivable continent: Africa. It has all the adventure, mystery, political intrigue and pathos of any good thriller story - EXCEPT THAT IT'S ALL TRUE. It captures the moods, prejudices, opinions and frustrations of people who, at some stage in their lives, have
been sitting in the boiling pot of 20th Century Africa.

This modern day odyssey details the experiences of a wide range of travellers, from anthropologists to retired teachers, TV reporters to academics, and idle wanderers to that modern day explorer: the businessman. Providing a ground-level viewpoint of Africa's modern history, the book features eye-popping stories - the nature of which could make a Sunday Travel Section editor choke on her morning toast.

Have you ever...
- Been held up at gunpoint by the police
- Learned how to survive amidst revolution
- Visited a place where the police transfer money, sell drugs and arrest you all at once
- Experienced the Egyptian banking system
- Been attacked by killer bees?
- Heard "No money, no English - no problem!"
- Had the police hitch hike for you
- Seen the closest thing to hell on earth

Other issues covered include:

- The problems facing Africa today: emigration, debt, AIDS, population growth.
- Africa's debated history, economics, religion, misadventure, law and order, war.

"The book does succeed in its objective of presenting Africa in a way that is understandable to the masses." Norman Goldman ,

"History, culture, current affairs and travel, couldn't be funnier ... except on my show of course. " John Phillip Contini,

This therefore promises to be a most fascinating meeting, and trust that as many supporters and friends as possible will be able to attend.

The next London Swinton Circle meeting is planned for Tuesday 22 October, when the guest speaker will be Lady (Ann) Winterton. Fuller details will be included in the October edition of the SCN.

The next meeting of the London Branch of the Springbok Club will take place in the upstairs function room of "The Plough", Museum Street, London WC1 [near to the British Museum - nearest underground stations: Holborn and Tottenham Court Road] on Tuesday 1st October 2002, commencing at 19.45 hrs. It is anticipated that an interesting guest will be present at this event who will give a short key-note address. Everyone is however invited to meet together in a more social environment in the downstairs bar earlier during the evening prior to the formal part of the meeting.

The official launch of the Lancashire Branch of the Springbok Club is planned to take place at a braai to be held in Manchester during mid-October. Fuller details will be given in the October edition of the SCN.

Both the Kent and Chilterns Branches of the SC are planning to hold informal "pub evenings" during the autumn, and again further details will be given in the next SCN.

We are happy to be able to announce that Mr. Dennis Duncan from Arizona has recently been appointed the new SC United States co-ordinator. Dennis will shortly be making contact with all our existing US members and supporters, but if you know of any other friends in the US who might be keen to become actively involved then please let us know their details. [We have become very worried about what has happened to Ferdi Fourie, our original US co-ordinator, as we haven't been able to contact with him for some time. We know that he was a trainee pilot, so therefore are very concerned about whether he is still safe and well. If anyone knows anything about Ferdi's current situation then please let us know, either by e-mail to:, or by post to: BCM SAPAT, London WC1N 3XX, UK].

We have just learnt that Carlton Television's new epoch-marking series "The British Empire in Colour" will be screened on ITV [Channel 3] on Sundays 15th, 22nd and 29th September, starting at 10.15 p.m., and not as we were informed earlier.

We know that a number of our friends (particularly from Rhodesia) have helped in making this series, but believe that all our supporters will probably be most keen to view this potentially very exciting series.

No.46 : Mr. HILTON SPENCE, formerly of Durban and now of East Amhurst, New York.

Hilton Spence was an early and keen supporter of the "Save Rhodesia Campaign" in Durban during the late 1970's, when he was an active member of the youth-wing of the organisation along with his good friend and colleague, the late, great Mike Skelly. Following the fall of Rhodesia he then became an active supporter of the "Patriotic Forum", but following the fall of South Africa itself he emigrated to the United States, where his father was a practising medical doctor. The address which we were given for him in the United States was: 1554 Charlesgate Circle, East Amhurst, New York, but alas in spite of several attempts to contact him there we have received no reply, so therefore don't know whether he's even aware of the sad news of the death of Mike Skelly. If anyone knows anything about Hilton or his present whereabouts then please either e-mail us on:, or write to us at: BCM SAPAT, London WC1N 3XX, UK.

We've recently been informed of a most interesting web-site entitled "The Islam Threat and the Enemy Within", which states its aim is to "expose the Islamisation of Britain". We don't know who is behind this site, but it is certainly worth a look. It can be accessed at:-

Now to those hassling you on the Internet over southern Africa. Firstly be aware they exist, and right in the back garden.

Disruptive, even questionable operatives of certain organisations and/or individuals connected to parts of Africa are well known to the British authorities. As a matter of interest the Home Office and security services were tipped off some time ago about their likes. Rhodesians Worldwide printed a warning on the same issue some time ago. The libel issue is difficult for them to pursue, and feel by toning the language down a bit you might be able to draw these people to the surface.

This way they never know if Internal Affairs are watching them, and when they might strike and under what circumstances.

Yours etc.,

Richard Fairbrother, Southampton, U.K.

We have recently been surprised to learn that the magazine "The Scorpion", edited by a certain Michael Walker, is evidently still in existence.

Walker contacted us when we were still based in South Africa during the 1980s and asked whether we would be prepared to market "The Scorpion" in the country. Although we never had time to read this heavy intellectual magazine in full we accepted his assurances that he was on the same political wavelength as "S.A.Patriot" and agreed to his proposals.

Basically the arrangement which we entered into was simple: Walker would supply us with 24 copies of each issue which he would invoice us for at 50% of the cover price, and we would then sell these at the Rand equivalent of the cover price (both by advertising for subscriptions through the pages of "S.A.Patriot" and by selling copies at "Patriotic Forum" meetings etc.), keeping the 50% profit to assist "S.A.Patriot" funds. This arrangement worked very well for a couple of years, although a number of subscribers asked for their subscriptions to be cancelled because they evidently did not agree with the contents.

After a while, however, Walker mysteriously asked us to supply him with the names and addresses of all the subscribers we had obtained in South Africa, the reason he gave being so he could supply them direct in case anything ever happened to us. We accepted the reasoning which he gave in this regard, so therefore supplied him with these details as requested - a great mistake as events turned out. After a couple more editions of "The Scorpion" appeared, however, a number of the subscribers who we'd obtained wrote back to us to say they had already received copies of the magazine direct from the UK, so therefore quite naturally refused to pay us for the subsequent copies which we had sent them. This was not only damaging to us financially, but also proved to be a great embarrassment. When we subsequently contacted Walker in this regard he arrogantly stated that the reason he did this was because he did not believe we were carrying out our side of the agreement. This of course was a lie, and Walker failed to provide any form of evidence to back-up this vile claim. We therefore wrote back to him asking him never to supply any of our subscribers directly again, as it would only cause us yet more problems and embarrassment, yet in spite of this when the next edition of "The Scorpion" appeared he did just that! We therefore immediately terminated all connections to "The Scorpion".

After we were subsequently forced to relocate operations to the UK, and initially had more time on our hands, we were at last able to read issues of "The Scorpion" in full. What we discovered, however, was a revelation, for the magazine quite clearly was not on the same political wavelength as "S.A.Patriot" - even failing to support the Western Allies during the 1991 Gulf War, we kid you not!

How this magazine with such an apparently ambiguous stance and such an arrogant editor manages to survive remains a mystery, but one thing is for certain, and that is that we advise everybody to avoid this appropriately-named poisonous publication like the plague!

[Although we are of course totally opposed to the establishment of the International Criminal Court in principle, the idea of a rogue such as Mugabe being prosecuted by such a body has many ironic advantages.]

A newly-formed organization, The Zimbabwe Victims Coalition (ZVC) is to lay charges with the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe in terms of the mandate of the ICC.

The ICC entered into force on July 1, triggering the jurisdiction of the first permanent court capable of investigating and bringing to justice individuals who commit the most serious violations of international humanitarian law, namely war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and, once defined, aggression.

Unlike the International Court of Justice in The Hague, whose jurisdiction is restricted to states, the ICC will have the capacity to indict individuals. The jurisdiction of the ICC will only apply to those crimes committed after entry into force of the Rome Statute. This Statute was adopted on 17 July 1998 and on 11 April 2002, the threshold of the 60 ratifications necessary for entry into force of the Statute was crossed.

It is unlikely that Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe will suddenly cease to condone and authorize the murder, torture and starvation of his citizens, so all infractions of human rights must be recorded and forwarded to ZVC.

ZVC has already collected a substantial amount of information which is being collated to form a background dossier which will be submitted to the ICC in The Hague. This week a preliminary notice will be sent to the ICC advising the organisation of the purpose of submitting a ZVC dossier.

The ZVC is headquartered in Pretoria, at the law office whose name appears on this letterhead. All administration will be carried out from this office. Aggrieved persons are requested to submit information regarding the following violations to our offices:

Farmers killed and/or assaulted
Farm workers killed and/or assaulted
Citizens killed and/or assaulted
Citizens and non-citizens tortured
Farms (including houses and other improvements) destroyed
Crops destroyed
Farms rendered inoperable, thus causing starvation
Jobs lost on farms
Farm and other equipment destroyed by government proxies
Workers’ houses destroyed
Citrus orchards lost
Dams destroyed
Farm land illegally expropriated (in hectares)
Animals lost, maimed or killed
The abuse of the legal system - intimidation of judges, magistrates, etc.
People detained on false charges or without trial
Forestry land lost
Tobacco barns and grain silos destroyed or purloined

It is worth noting that the Mugabe government has reportedly over the past two years taken from several private investors assets worth one trillion Zimbabwe dollars (US$18 billion). This is three times the annual GDP and more than the entire continent of Africa received in foreign aid in the past year (US$14,6 billion).

The policies and behaviour of the Mugabe government are directly responsible for the starvation now existing and to come in Zimbabwe. Thousands have lost their homes and their jobs. Many have had their private property stolen by the government, property which was purchased after 1980 and which had been guaranteed by the Mugabe government as “safe”. Affected persons who wish to contribute information towards the compilation of the dossier on crimes against humanity in Zimbabwe are urged to contact ZVC as soon as possible. All information will be kept confidential.

We believe that Robert Mugabe will be the first person to be indicted under the ICC, and not a moment too soon. We are hopeful the ICC will give our submission full consideration, given the state of government-sponsored starvation, torture, murder and mayhem now existing in Zimbabwe.
